The Shoulder

The shoulder joint is one of the most used and has the greatest range of motion of any joint in the body. The joint and the surrounding four muscles and their tendons are referred to as the rotator cuff, which helps control shoulder movement. A sac called the Bursa surrounds the rotator cuff and facilitates movement of the tendons. Overhead sports such as tennis, swimming and basketball, as well as those that involve throwing, can weaken the rotator cuff and cause pain.

Maintaining equal strength of all muscle groups and connective tissue surrounding the shoulder and throughout the body reduces risk of pain and injury.
